[kdewebdev-site] redesign of the quanta web site

Hi Carlos and the others,

while I agree in some part that the site probably could look nicer and
your screenshot is quite good, the only problem would be arised by the
need to put that link. This is the reason why I CC this mail to Eric
Laffoon, who is the "heart" of Quanta in the sense, that without his
money and dedication the development of the application and the website
(including hosting) would not be possible. As you might see the ONLY link
to a commercial site is the link to his company, kittyhooch.com, which
actively (I mean monthly) contributes to the development of the
application.
Personally I wouldn't mind a simple link on the main page(s), but the
last word here belongs to Eric. There should be a discussion and
agreement about on which pages it appears and for how long (I mean, if
your company creates the site, but after 6 months nobody takes care of
us, only us, the Quanta developers, maybe it doesn't make sense to
advertise the original creators until the end of time, only for a certain
amount, like 1 year). I know that the whole kdewebdev site has a
relatively high Google ranking, which affects all sites linked from it,
so it has some value. ;)
It should also be sorted out, if such linking in exchange of side
developing would legally mean sponsorship or not in the US. I know that
the KDE sites under the kde.org domain generally forbid such linking as
it would mean commercial activity which would underminde the nonprofit
status of the KDE eV organization which owns the domains (but this is in
Germany).

I have some requirements though regarding the development process and the
licencing:
- the development should be done in our subversion repository (which we
just set up, see the archives of this list)
- it should be possible to us to modify the source in a relatively easy
way (this is similar to the above requirement, it mean
- due to the above requirement and the openness of Quanta, the licensing
should be GPL (or more liberal, but compatible licence)
- there is more than Quanta hosted on the site, so the new framework or
layout should allow easy integration of the other sites (Kommander,
KLinkStatus, etc. and even newer ones in the future).

Anyway, let's wait first Eric response, and depending on that we can
continue the discussion about how to do and what to do.

Andras
