[kdewebdev-site] The future of the website

Hi all,

it's me again. I'd like to finally move this website project out from
the dead point where it is. I had a small conversation with Dave
Reddish, and he unfortunately doesn't have time to continue on it.
There was also a problem that he didn't had access directly to the
kdewebdev.org server, so he was dependend on Eric, who also has little
spare time. This process was slow and sometimes I can understand that
it was frustrating. It's frustrating for myself as well that after a
year of starting the website project we don't have anything that can
show up to the users. This is bad (non-motivating) for anybody who
wanted to help us in this area, and it is bad for Quanta, because it
deserves a better, up to date, more professional site. So here is my
proposal:
- I asked Dave to make the work he made available for me
- I will download, create a CVS/SVN repository for it, maybe on kde.org,
if it's not possible to create on kdewebdev.org
- I will upload it to www.kdewebdev.org (maybe it will be "hidden" now,
so the main page will not show it, but those wanting to work on it can
see)
- I will write some content to it, including some FAQ, uploading the
documentation, some article or so.
- I will create the KNewStuff place (or better update it) and describe
how you can put something there.
- announce it again on the lists, so now who wants to work on the
website can see what it's all about

This can happen only when the total freeze kicks in (3 days from now).
Until than I have other things to do.
Yes, I'm not a web developer, but PHP cannot be such a big problem to
learn and I can write some content in English. ;-) Meantime I will test
Quanta as I did while writing the documentation as well.

Also if somebody wants to help us for real, should get access to the
server. Dave, if you still want it, let us know.

Andras
