:)
Chris, Eric and friends...
I would like to see (by the 25th or so if that's possible) a brief one to two
page summary of the proposal(s) we have for localization. I only want to
concentrate on localization at the moment - we'll get to how we're going to
put the site together next.
In order for me to follow what's going on, I'm going to ask for a little bit
more documentation that I originally did. I would like to see a semi-formal
proposal for each localization strategy we might want to use.
I'd like the proposals to take the following general form:
A: Intro
B: Why we should use this method of localization
C: Sample of how the localization table(s) would be built
D: Sample PHP code that would use the localization table(s) in step C
E: Strenghts of the proposal
F: Weaknesses of the proposal
G: Conclusion
Step G is where bribes may be mentioned :)
Please don't go too overboard. Put as much detail as necessary, but don't get
too overboard. This isn't the design phase, just the proposal/prototype
phase.
In addition to the propsal, I would still like the working prototype so that
we can see the code in action. I would like this prototype delivered in
a .tar.gz file that anyone can uncompress and run inside Apache.
I apologize if people have submitted the code before and feel they're
duplicating effort. Unless I get hit by a bus, this should be the last
time :)
At the moment, I have no preference for any method that has been proposed so
far since I don't feel I have enough information to make a decision. That's
why I'm asking for more info. I also don't have a preference if I get a
single proposal or two (or more). Chris and Eric, if you want to work
together to merge your ideas (it looks like they may be closer than
originally thought) that would be just dandy. If there isn't a meeting of the
minds, we'll take a look at both proposals and make a decision then.
By the way, there were no additional comments on the vision statement. That
means its final as previously posted. Tomorrow night, I'll post the official
Final Vision Statement Document so that it can be officially cannonized in
the archives.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do at the moment...
Best regards,
David
