Hi everyone,
I just wanted to stick a bug in everyone's ear. As we develop kdewebdev.org as
a group we actually have, for the first time, an ideal test bench for
developing one of the big features on our do list this year. In fact it
should enter development soon. I'm talking about group project mode.

What I want to do is ask you to keep this in mind so that you may be able to
input to us on useful features or implementations as well as testing it. Let
me just give a brief outline of some of what Andras and I have discussed.

* project file split into local and remote files - this will
facilitateenhanced upload management as well as other shared information
* various methods to manage repository - we're using CVS but we want to keep
in mind WebDAV, Subversion and even non repository management schemes
* annotation - Amaya has done some work with this and we need to look at how
to manage a solution here
* planning and managing tools
* innovative solutions like RSS
* integration with DCOP, Kmail and possibly even XML-RPC
* Legacy support - working with and supporting Dreamweaver's limited abilities
in this area in concert with our more advanced solutions
* personalities - managing the growing complexities of development by assiging
project roles and limiting what is downloaded, seen and editable by a given
user as well as restructuring their interface based on project data

Over all we will be looking for ways to provide solutions for team development
that make Quanta a clear choice for a project like ours, or for the
enterprise. I believe that combined with the other things we are doing and
the upcoming template object interface that will allow for much more rapid
development that Quanta can and should position it's self as the first real
Linux "killer" desktop application. I'm asking our team members to help us
drive that innovation, and as it develops, to help us test and refine it.
